Biography bio

Biography

Dr. Kallergi received her B.S. degree in Physics from the University of Athens, Greece. She did her graduate work in France and the United States in the areas of Energy Physics, Applied Physics/Material Science, and Electrical Engineering. She holds two M.S. degrees and a Ph.D. degree, the latter in Physics & Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida (USF). She has also completed postdoctoral work in Diagnostic Radiology at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute and the Department of Radiology at USF and a graduate certificate in Management & Leadership at the USF School of Business. She was a faculty member of the USF Department of Radiology from 1993 to 2006 when she joined the faculty of the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the University of West Attica (previously TEI of Athens) and the Division of Nuclear Medicine of the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens as Visiting Investigator.

Dr. Kallergi’s research interests include medical digital imaging, molecular imaging and smart hospital biomedical technology. Her research has been recognized by the State of Florida, the University of South Florida, the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, and the US Business and Professional Women Foundation. She has received 5 US patents in the field of medical imaging, she has more than 40 publications in scientific peer-reviewed journals, 7 book chapters, more than 100 papers in scientific conference proceedings, and more than 25 invited lectures and presentations. She has participated in more than 35 research projects either as primary investigator or co-investigator and is an active member of scientific societies and associations related to her research and academic interests.
